Increased earning potential | C&G Level 3 2391 Inspection & Testing
A great way to increase your earning potential as an electrician is to gain the highly sought after City & Guilds 2391-52 Inspection & Testing qualification. This is an ideal course if you are hoping to venture into the lucrative Inspection and Testing field. Holders of the C & G Level 3 Inspection & Testing qualification will be able to test installations in commercial and domestic settings, including those which have previously been installed by other electricians.
Why become qualified in Inspection & Testing?
With more regulation expected over the next few years to improve electrical safety in dwellings and in particular the private rented sector, the demand for electricians who are qualified and competent in Inspection and Testing is set to rise.
The Private Tenancies Act (Northern Ireland) 2022 came into force in May 2022. The act introduces a number of important reforms (including electrical safety checks) for the Private Rented Sector (PRS) which has grown considerably in recent years. At present, it does not explicitly state that the electrical safety checks are completed on a five-yearly basis, like other parts of the UK. However, it is expected that these will be introduced after the Department for Communities has engaged and consulted with relevant stakeholders and had the opportunity to prepare the required prescribed documents.
The ever-increasing number of EV charge points, Solar PV and heat pump installations is also a key driver increasing the demand for qualified electricians who hold an I&T qualification. All of these new and emerging technologies require dwellings to have their electrical installations inspected and tested prior to installation to ensure the suitability of supply and safety of the installation. Holding an accredited Level 3 I&T qualification is also an essential entry requirement for anyone wanting to undertake accredited Solar PV, Battery Storage and EV charging courses. Now is a good time to invest in your own professional development and become qualified in this highly technical and complex area.
