AM2 Frequently Asked Questions
1. Who is NET?
NET is the awarding body for the AM2 test. They manage and develop the electrical industry’s assessment of occupational competence, the AM2. ETT is the test centre. Please note we are unable to provide individual feedback on assessments.
2. Who can I speak to if I have a query about my assessment or booking an assessment?
All assessment enquiries must be made directly to the ETT AM2 Assessment Centre – ask to speak with our Training and Assessment Coordinator.
3. How can I book an assessment re-sit?
Please contact our Training and Assessment Coordinator if you need to resit any part of your AM2 test.
4. Is there any preparation I can do prior to taking my assessment?
Before registering for an assessment, the Candidate Self-Assessment Checklist must be completed and signed by you as the candidate, your employer and your training provider (unless you are an independent candidate). You must bring this with you on the first day of your assessment in order to be permitted entry. AM2 Candidates are advised to read and understand all information documents before booking an assessment. We also recommend that candidates are familiar with the IET On-Site Guide, Guidance note 3, BS7671 publications and the Building Regulations.
5. I have not received my results. Where do I go for help?
Please note that NET cannot provide candidate results over the phone. To enquire about assessment results, please contact our Training and assessment Coordinator. Most issues surrounding the non-receipt of results arise as a result of incorrect email addresses and phone numbers being provided at the point of booking. If our centre experiences technical problems during the assessment process, we will raise a query with NET’s IT support and will contact you with an update once the matter has been resolved.
6. I’ve received my results and wish to query the marks I’ve been given. How do I go about this?
NET provides automated feedback on areas within the assessment where you have been unsuccessful. ETT & NET are unable to give detailed feedback on specific marking points, to ensure the credibility of the assessment. If you are not satisfied with the assessment outcome and believe that you have grounds for an appeal, please see NET’s appeals process.
7. How much does an assessment or re-sit cost?
Full Test & Resit Costs
The AM2 test costs can be found here, including any resit fees. If you are booking the test yourself, a non refundable deposit of £100 will be required to secure the booking. This booking must be paid in full, 28 days before commencement of the AM2 test. Payment may be made in installments if preferable. If full payment is not received 28 days prior to the AM2 test, the booking will be cancelled and any payments received (excluding the deposit of £100) will be refunded.
8. How do I obtain a replacement or duplicate certificate?
To request a replacement certificate, please download the NET Replacement Certificate Form. This must be completed and returned (including payment) to the address given on the form. NET aim to process certificate requests within one week, and a next-day delivery option is available on the form.
9. Are there any resources to help me prepare for my test?
There are lots of resources and videos on the NET website
